NBA SEASON KICKS OFF WITH BIG CHRISTMAS DAY!!!

Well barmates the NBA returns in a BIG way on Christmas day with a quintuple header for the ages.  The lockout and papa Sterns "trade gate" are over, preseason games have started and FINALLY an NBA regular season that might actually matter.  The shorter 62 game season should be something that the NBA should seriously consider. 82 games is way too many games and really makes the regular season pointless.  So tonight I am going to give you my picks for day one.......
Boston Celtics @ New York Knicks
The "original" big 3 are old.  Kevin Garnett is still their key and has to stay healthy for them to succeed.  The Knicks made tremendous strides last year adding Melo and Stoudemire, but by adding Bibby and Tyson Chandler they got a WHOLE LOT better.  A front court of Stoudemire, Chandler and Melo is faster and more athletic right now than the Celtics Garnett, O'neal and pierce.  The beginning of the Knicks being relevant begins Christmas day...Knicks win
Miami Heat @ Dallas Mavericks
The finals rematch of Dallas and Miami will be very interesting.  LBJ, D-WADE and Baby Bosh will have to stand and watch Mark Cuban raise his Mavericks Championship banner.  The difference I thought was missing Tyson Chandler, but with Lamar Odom and Vince Carter in the mix, Dirk and the boys may make another run defending their titles.  The NBA's version of the Evil Empire, Miami Heat, are ready to prove everyone wrong and that last year was just a sneak peak.  Their issue though is they still have no supporting cast, or that special role player ALL championship teams need....Mavericks Win
Chicago Bulls @ LA Lakers
Derek Rose has single handedly made the Bulls relevant again.  His Supporting cast has been there longer but needed his incredible scoring ability to get over the hump.  Joahkim Noah has developed in to a decent C and Luol Deng is a perfect Pippen to Rose's Jordan.  The Lakers still have Kobe and now Gasol.  As long as Kobe plays the Lakers will be that good.  Lakers win
Orlando Magic @ Oklahoma City Thunder
Durant has become a bonafide superstar and Westbrook has been a great compliment.  I just dont think they have enough to stop Superman...Magic Win
LA Clippers @ Golden State Warriors
Fact is this game meant nothing until Chris Paul became a Clipper.  The "Other" team in LA may be more relevant now than they ever have.  Golden State just doesn't have the horses.  Blake Griffin shows that he may soon be the best player in the league...Clippers Win

What do you think?  Who are your picks....
